- Alexander is the Associate Professor of Trumpet at Georgia State University since 2018 and holds the Second Trumpet chair at The Atlanta Opera.Being a founding member of the renowned brass quintet M5 MEXICAN BRASS since 2005 he has performed hundreds of concerts at International Festivals and concert tours in 5 continents, for example, the Kennedy Center, the Banff Summer Music Festival, the Cartagena International Music Festival in Colombia, the Sauerlandherbst in Germany, Italian Brass Week, PopArt Berlin, etc.. As an orchestral musician, he has performed all over Europe, Brazil, India, Algeria, Mexico, and the US. Performances as a soloist lead him to Mexico, the U.S., Canada, Peru, Korea, Italy, Germany, Spain and France.Alexander was Co-Principal Trumpet at the Opera Bremen (Germany), soloist at Deutsches Theater Berlin, and has been a guest with the renowned Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Berlin State Opera, the WDR Radio Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the NDR Radio Symphony Orchestra Hannover, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra in Spain, Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de Mexico, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Ballet, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and many others. He performed under conductors like Daniel Barenboim, Semyon Bychkov, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Garry Bertini, Mitsuko Uchida, Arthur Fagen, etc. In 2024 he was guest Principal Trumpet for the US-tour of the world-famous Max Raabe & Das Palastorchester from Germany, performing in renowned venues as Carnegie Hall, Chicago and Boston Symphony Halls, etc.From 2003 until 2018, Alex lived in México where he was principal trumpet of the Symphony Orchestras of Michoacán and Nuevo Leon and Professor at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, the oldest Conservatory of the Americas.Born in Germany, he took his first music classes with Bettina Fabiunke and Rainer Auerbach (Berlin State Opera). Alex has a master’s degree from the University of Arts in Berlin where he studied with Robert Platt and Konradin Groth (Berlin Philharmonic). He also studied a post degree at University Saar in Saarbrücken with Peter Leiner (Radio Orchestra Saarbrücken) and has a Doctoral Degree from McGill University in Montreal, where he studied with Richard Stoelzel. Alex participated in masterclasses with Jens Lindemann, Reinhold Friedrich, Fred Mills, Mark Gould, Hannes Läubin, James Thompson, Ryan Anthony, and many others.He is a certified meditation teacher and created the GSU undergraduate/graduate seminar “Mindfulness & Meditation”(MUS 4200/6200), which is an accredited elective course. He is an Honorary Professor of the Peruvian Trumpet Academy (Universidad de Música, Lima/Peru). He has taught hundreds of international masterclasses, lectures, and workshops and continues to do so very actively, to name a few; North Western University, UCLA, 1.Symposium for Wind Instruments in Warsaw (Poland), McGill University, 1.Congreso International de Trompeta, Castellon (Spain), 5. Festival Internacional de Trompeta, Lima (Peru), University of Music and Theatre Rostock (Germany), Ibagué Festival in Colombia, etc.At GSU Alex has created an ongoing series of world-renowned guest artists. Since fall 2018 the following guest artists visited GSU, for example: Rainer Auerbach (Berlin State Opera), Jens Lindemann, ,Rex Richardson, Huw Morgan (UK), José Chafer (Spain), Vince DiMArtino (US), Peter Bond (Metropolitan Opera), Paul Merkelo (Montreal Symphony Orchestra), Yvonne Toll Schneider (Atlanta Opera), Romain Leleu (France), Jack Burt (UMaine), Julie Boucaut (France), Steve Leisring (KU), Manu Mellearts (Belgium Opera), James Ackley, Marc Zwingelberg (North German Philharmonic), Toni Prisk (Philadelphia Orchestra), etc.In 2022, Alex was the host of the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast at GSU, presenting 14 international guest artists: Sean Jones, Konradin Groth (Berlin Philharmonic), David Pastor (Spain), the Atlanta Symphony Trumpet Section, Ensamble 7/4 (Venezuela).Alex is a certified Whitewater Rafting guide and speaks 6 languages.
