Georgia State’s Music Production & Audio Recording program, along with the Music Management program, provides students with a comprehensive education that combines technical expertise, creative exploration and practical industry knowledge. Graduates from these programs are well-equipped to pursue successful careers in music production, audio recording and music management.

Music Management prepares students for diverse management-related careers in the music industry, spanning both profit and non-profit sectors. The curriculum combines foundational music knowledge, practical performance experiences and specialized business and music management courses.
Upon graduation, students are well-equipped to pursue various industry roles, whether at record labels and distributors, artist and concert management, retail sales, or music publishing. This comprehensive program gives students the skills and expertise to thrive in the dynamic and ever-evolving music business landscape.

The Management program invites esteemed industry professionals to deliver guest lectures and lead work-intensive seminars, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities.
Alumni from our program are working with some of the top independent and major music, management and media companies including Streamcut, Blueprint Group, Adella Thomas, Entercom, ASCAP and Warner Music.
Interest areas within the Music Management program include management, publishing, promotion & marketing and entrepreneurship.
Music Production & Audio Recording prepares students for artistic, technical and producer/engineer roles in the music and music-related media industries. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students become skilled audio engineers and music technologists with practical training and hands-on experience that prepares them for the multifaceted challenges of the industry.
Graduates emerge from the program well-versed in the technical intricacies of sound recording, mixing and mastering. They possess a discerning artistic sensibility that allows them to create captivating and high-quality audio productions.

There are six recording studio labs, designed by Walters-Storyk, fully equipped with state-of-the-art digital audio workstations running Pro Tools and numerous other software programs.
High-level monitoring by Genelec, SSL consoles, Universal Audio hardware and software and an extensive microphone collection are complemented by significant analog and digital sound production tools.
Applicants are encouraged to have a background in music reading and performance.

The School of Music's Student-led Music Distribution Company
MTM Standard is a student-led music distribution and licensing company housed within the School of Music on the downtown Atlanta Campus of Georgia State.
An incubator for artists, producers, visual creators, managers and aspiring music executives, students run every aspect of the company, from recording to marketing to pitching to licensing.
Collaboration is at the core of its mission and MTM Standard welcomes talented students from all of Georgia State’s campuses.
