Find your Rhythm
Choral Conducting offers rigorous training under experienced faculty, along with valuable performance experience.
Students work with the Master Singers, a select chamber choir of up to 30 voices, to lead rehearsals and performances, honing their conducting skills to a professional level.
Students also assist additional choral ensembles, including the Treble Choir, Tenor-Bass Choir, University Singers and Choral Union. The concentration cultivates highly qualified conductors prepared to make their mark in the field.
Orchestral Conducting has three primary objectives: developing and enhancing conducting skills, broadening students’ musical and administrative knowledge and preparing students for doctoral studies in conducting.
As assistant conductors for the esteemed Georgia Philharmonic, students gain practical experience and benefit from attending rehearsals of renowned ensembles like the Atlanta Symphony and Atlanta Opera.
Wind Band Conducting develops students’ conducting skills through a comprehensive study of repertoire and provides valuable insights into the administrative aspects of directing collegiate wind band programs.
Students come away with the skills to manage and organize successful performances and a strong foundation for pursuing doctoral studies.
*Conducting audition or videotape is required for admission.
