Join us for this unique residency with international superstar Jens Lindemann. The residency includes a masterclass and a concert with the Macon Pops Orchestra, presenting the U.S. Premiere of the new, Award-winning Big Band Arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue, featuring Jens Lindemann. This concert will also feature the music of Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole, and more. Sinfonieta de MoreliaIn November 2019, Dr. Alex Freund teaches and coaches the brass section of the Sinfonieta at the Festival Internacional de Música de Morelia, Mexico’s most important Classical Music Festival. The Sinfonieta is an international youth orchestra with students from Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela, Peru and Chile.

Georgia State University Brass Day
The first Brass Day took place on August 17th with 26 participants. The Brass faculty included William Mann,trombone, Alex Freund, trumpet, Brice Andrus, horn, Eric Hawkins, horn, and Eric Bubazc, tuba/euphonium. The participants came from various high schools and colleges. They were taught instrument techniques, preparation of new repertoire, big brass, and then on the last day they performed with the faculty.
Aguascalientes Chamber Music Festival, Mexico
Trumpet Professor Alex Freund was part of the faculty at the 15th Aguascalientes International Chamber Music Festival, Mexico’s largest and most prestigious Chamber Music Festival. He presented the Inaugural concert with his ensemble M5 MEXCIAN BRASS.
Berliner Music Competition 2019
Trumpet Professor Alex Freund was awarded a Golden Medal with high distinction at the Berliner Music Competiton 2019, with his quintet M5 MEXICAN BRASS.

Trumpet Professor Alex Freund was announced as SCHAGERL ARTIST by the renowned Austrian Instrument manufacturer. He has the honor to represent SCHAGERL along with the most famous brass artists of the world, Gabor Tarkövi, Tamas Velenczei, Guillaume Jehl from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Mnozil Brass, jazz legends James Morrison, David Pastor, Gileno Santana, and Hannes Läubin from the Bavarian Radio Orchestra.
Concert in Benefit to Cancer Blows
On July 26th, 2019, Trumpet Professor Alex Freund performed a concert in benefit of trumpet legend Ryan Anthony’s (Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Brass) Cancer Blows Foundation, sharing the stage with ASO Principal Trumpet Stuart Stephenson, trumpeter Rolando Fernandez, and other renowned artists.
First place in the Orchestral Division of the International Trumpet Guild Competition
Congratulations to Victor Pires! He was awarded first place in the Orchestral Division of the International Trumpet Guild competition. Victor Pires is a master’s degree candidate (M.Mu. ’23) for trumpet performance from the studio of Dr. Alexander Freund.
Freund on Tour
Assistant professor of trumpet Dr. Alex Freund returned from an extensive tour through Europe with his quintet M5 Mexican Brass. The world-renowned ensemble performed in Austria, Poland and Germany.
