Study Music in Atlanta
Studying music in Atlanta gives you opportunities you can’t get anywhere else. You’ll learn from faculty who are members of the Atlanta Symphony, Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Ballet Orchestras as well as Grammy Award winners. You’ll have the chance to take masterclasses and learn from guest conductors, guest soloists, and composers in-residence. The city provides unmatched performance opportunities. As an international city, Atlanta attracts world-renowned classical and jazz artists who come to our campus and collaborate with School of Music students.
Performance Opportunities

You’ll be able to take advantage of unequaled performance opportunities, no matter your discipline. Last year, students had more than 200 performance opportunities within the School of Music, as well as throughout Atlanta.
Admissions
As a music major, you must be admitted to the University and the School of Music. Applications for both can be found on this website. You must pass a performance audition to be accepted into an undergraduate degree program or graduate performance degree program. Apply to the University prior to scheduling an audition.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Students who audition are automatically considered for financial support through the School of Music. Here is a partial list of the many available awards:
- University awards in the amount of $2,000 per year, renewable for up to four years.
- Endowed named scholarships of varying amounts, renewable for up to four years.
- Marching and athletic band scholarships of varying amounts renewable for up to four years.
- Graduate assistantships of $4,000 – $12,000 per academic year, plus a full tuition waiver.
Georgia State University Office of Student Financial Services SFS.GSU.EDU and the Georgia Student Finance Commission GSFC.GEORGIA.GOV can also assist you with finding financial aid.
Exchange Programs
You can take part in exchange programs with universities all over the world, including Greece, Taiwan and Brazil. Additional exchange programs are being finalized with universities in Greece, Hong Kong, South Africa and Spain.
