We are pleased to announce that Robert J. Ambrose has officially assumed the presidency of the Southern Division of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA). Ambrose was elected to this esteemed position by the members of the Southern Division and began his term in March.
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve an organization that does so much for our profession, and means so much to me personally,” said Ambrose.
As President, Ambrose will play a pivotal role in overseeing the annual regional conference, a key event on the CBDNA calendar. The upcoming conference is scheduled to take place from February 29 to March 2, 2024, at the University of Memphis. Ambrose, with his extensive experience and expertise, will be responsible for planning and implementing this important gathering.
Prior to his presidency, Ambrose served as the State Chair for Georgia for over a decade, demonstrating his strong commitment to music education and advocacy. He has also contributed at the national level, serving on various committees including the Music Education Task Force and the Gender and Ethnicity Committee, showcasing his dedication to advancing the field.
Under Ambrose’s exceptional leadership, the Georgia State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble has received invitations to perform at the prestigious Southern Division Conference on three separate occasions. This achievement highlights the ensemble’s exceptional talent and Ambrose’s commitment to fostering musical excellence.
