Named Music Scholarships

Alfredo Barili Scholarship – To provide scholarships for music students with preference given to undergraduate string performers. Students must have a demonstrable skill, evidenced through a combination of academic and musical talent, GPA and performance ability.

 

Bill Lowery Scholarship – To provide scholarships to sophomore-level undergraduate students in the Music Industry program. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

 

Bobbie Bailey/NARAS Endowment – To provide scholarships for students in the School of Music who are enrolled in the Music Management or Music Technology concentrations. Funds will be used for tuition, books, fees, and other educational expenses.

 

Bradford and Patricia Ferrer Scholarship in Music – To provide scholarships for undergraduate students in good standing who are currently enrolled in the School of Music. Preference will be given to qualified students with a 3.0 or higher GPA in music courses.

 

Charles T. Wurm Scholarship – To provide scholarships for students majoring in music who have outstanding musical ability and talents that meet the current needs of the School of Music.

 

Charles and Rosemary Hall Choral Music Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students in the School of Music. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional vocal talent, be a junior or senior undergraduate choral singer or a graduate level student majoring in choral conducting, and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Donald S. Gingrich Scholarship in Music Education – To provide scholarships for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in music education.

 

Duane & Drada Hoover Endowed Choral Scholarship and Choral Activities – To provide scholarships for choral students and support choral performances and touring activities.

 

Florence Kopleff Vocal Scholarship – To provide scholarships to entering undergraduate students. Students must be qualified to major in voice performance or choral/general music education and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

Gerschefski/Reader Scholarship – To provide scholarships to cello students in the School of Music. Students must demonstrate exceptional talent as a cellist, must serve the School of Music by performing in the cello choir and University Orchestra and must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

Haskell and Mabel Boyter Choral Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students in the School of Music. Recipients must be at the junior or senior level, show outstanding achievement and leadership in choral music, embody a high standard of excellence, in good academic standing, and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

Haywood Family Endowed Scholarship – To provide scholarships to undergraduate students in the School of Music. Recipients must be in good academic standing and be currently enrolled in one of the programs in the College of the Arts’ School of Music.

 

Helen Riley Smith Voice Scholarship – To provide scholarships to majors who have demonstrated exceptional vocal talent and outstanding academic achievement. Students must be a junior or senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

John Demos Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students in the School of Music. Recipients must be enrolled as a junior or senior (or incoming transfer at a sophomore level or higher), show exceptional talent on a woodwind instrument, serve the School performing in two or more instrumental ensembles and have a current minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

John Schneider Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students in the School of Music. Recipients must be in good academic standing the College of the Arts and the School of Music, show exceptional pianist talent with strong interest in accompanying, and have a minimum current GPA of 3.0

 

Lucile Allen Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships to undergraduate music students enrolled in the School of Music and majoring in composition with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

Montgomery Music Scholarship – To provide scholarships for students of the School of Music. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and other such educational expenses.

 

Rick Bell Jazz Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students majoring in jazz studies who demonstrate exceptional musical talent.

 

Robert F. Clayton, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships for full-time music students who are superior academic students, have financial need, and possess strong personal moral character and leadership qualities. Eligibility for this scholarship is restricted to students who have progressed beyond the freshman year. Preference is given to undergraduate percussion majors.

 

Robert Shaw Choral Scholar Award – To provide awards to support choral conducting graduate assistants enrolled in the College of the Arts. Recipients must be graduate assistants in good academic standing whose major is choral conducting, have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

Sally Monsour Graduate Fellowship in Music Education – Awarded to graduate students in music education.

 

Sam Wallace Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships for music management or technology majors.

 

Stegner Piano Scholarship – To provide scholarships to music students with demonstrated dedication to the study of piano. Recipient(s) must be a rising senior and/or graduate student majoring in piano, demonstrate exceptional talent as a pianist and intend to become a professional concert pianist, and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

Steven Winick Memorial Scholarship – To provide scholarships to music students enrolled in the School of Music. Students must be juniors or seniors who demonstrate exceptional talent on a brass instrument, preferably trumpet, and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

The Aileen and Chris Valianos Music Scholarship – To provide scholarships for undergraduate students in good academic standing and currently enrolled in the School of Music. Recipients must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence as an outstanding student and display potential to be a meritorious student or emerging scholar in their musical field of study.

 

Thomas M. Brumby Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students in the School of Music.

Recipients must be in good academic standing in the College of the Arts and the School of Music, be a junior or senior majoring in music with a concentration in piano or organ and have a minimum GPA of 3.0

 

William G. Densmore Vocal Scholarship – To provide scholarships to students engaging in a complete college curriculum study with emphasis in operatic voice studies. Students must be accepted to the School of Music as freshman or be an incoming transfer student at the sophomore level or higher, or an incoming graduate student. Must serve the School by performing in the Opera Workshop and University Singers and have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
